CFOTO & Conservative Mental Health Group hosts Christmas fundraiser for The Wave Project

December 2023 saw Conservative Friends of the Ocean jointly host a fundraiser with our friends at The Conservative Mental Health Group at College Green Group, Westminster.

We were pleased to welcome Lisa Cameron MP, Member of Parliament for East Kilbride, Strathaven, Lesmahagow as our guest Parliamentary speaker. Lisa is a former consultant clinical psychologist.

We also welcomed senior officials from The Wave Project who gave a speech on the importance of their work in helping young people with mental health, self-confidence, and social issues build resilience and confidence.

Laura Harris of The Wave Project said, “As a charity, we are currently facing our biggest challenge. Already we are seeing the impact of the cost of living crisis coupled with the long-term effect of the pandemic on children’s mental health, children we are working with are presenting with significant problems ranging from extreme anxiety, depression, and self-harm. This time of year, the team is preparing to head back out into the water, and you can be sure that with donations like the one you have made, the children we work with will improve their self-confidence, resilience and social skills, and build trust with other children and adults using the power of surf therapy – your support is really appreciated.”
